I can't understand why people such as yourself write this baseless, negative crap. Especially, since all indications are that everything is progressing forward. If it falls through because of financing, well... then it falls through. But at this time, there's only reason to be optimistic. In my lifetime, I've known way too many people like yourself "Legalize it", that seem to get some sick pleasure from stealing other's joy. Why don't you do yourself, and everyone around you a favor. Put down the joint; go outside with a smile on your face, and love in your heart... and with newfound enthusiasm for life, make some new friends (including the ones you already have), and spread cheer through the countryside, praising hallelujah hallelujah... Earthquest is coming... Earthquest is coming!!!

Of course, the money was well spent...those are really beautiful models and renderings. And, this group now owns some very valuable real estate they can use to pay their bankruptcy and criminal defense lawyers!!

I wouldn't expect any slowdown because of the economy...they're already at a standstill. An absence of any inertia is about as slow as it gets! If this wasn't a big ponzi scheme on the citizens of MC, I'll be surprised!!!

I attended our neighborhood meeting a few weeks ago - Frank McCrady (EMCID) gave a presentation and discussion on this park.
He did state that the land clearing would not start till the last moment as that starts the clock on all of the tax abatements for the park. He put out the Q3/Q4 2010 timeframe for start of construction but there has been so many dates mentioned over the years that I dont put any weight to this date.
He did appear highly agitated when a question was asked about whether the funding was in place for phase 1 of the park (amusement park side West of US59). After lots of talk the answer is NO. He did say that EQ was reviewing different proposals on commercial funding.
No money = no park

This park is going to be great. I hope RF Dude stays away tho. The last thing fun loving families need is some grumpy old man trying to spoil everyone's fun with his dismal version of 'reality'.
If this park is built anything like these renderings it will be a high class venue. RF Dude needs to stick to his Walmart Truck spotting and let the rest of us have a little fun.

You want me to climb under a rock? There aren't too many big rocks around New Caney. However, if all your cartoon and claymation dreams come true we'll have the Rocky Mountains right across the highway. You want me to get a life? I have one. It's firmly grounded in REALITY. EMCID has been pimping this community for years now in a way that's not even funny. They're out there "saving the world" with the taxpayers money and they take all the credit. What do we have to show for it? A bunch of Wal-Mart trucks running around East County tearing up our roads.
p.s. Check out that "We put the corn in cornering" drawing in the rendering with the tractors racing. Now, that one I believe we'll get. That's EMC ALL THE WAY! It should say "We put the CORN in CORNY!"

Walt Disney World in Orlando was first envisioned in 1959. The land was purchased in 1965. The front gates opened in 1971.
That means it took 12 years to bring that park to fruition.
Earthquest was first announced in late 2006. If they are able to open by 2012 that would be only half the amount of time it took to open Walt Disney World.
1600 acre theme park resorts don't happen overnight. There is good reason to be optimistic that Earthquest will be built.

I agree. I think EMCID has done a great job getting something like this in our community as far as they have. This is a major undertaking even in good times and I would certainly expect some delays and challenges with funding in today's economy. EMCID, the developer, and other agencies would not have come this far if it were a hoax. So what if it is behind a year or even two for that matter. I just can't wait to see some dirt moving. Patience folks....it's coming

All i know is that i have family in New caney!!! They have thought about Building a RV park... if they do that it was because og the park coming in.... I also know for a fact that EMCID loaned the park money and if they don"t put the park in there will be alot of people not so happy....

i am losing faith in emcid. this project began in 2006 and the houston chronicle reported earthquest developers are still working on the massive funding of this project? really makes you wonder!

It sounds like they are working hard to secure funding.
Currently, the marketing group is talking to six investors, Thomas said.
"And, any one of them could come to the table with the money," said Thomas. "Bottom line, it is looking very good. It is not a matter of if. It is a matter of when we get the funding."
