I lived in the New Caney/Splendora area from 1990-2007, and I have to say, if you've got anything of value outside it beter be BOLTED down or it will be stolen and sold for meth, crack, or pill money. Better put some barbed wire around the top of that fence guys. Good luck Dino Land.

Is the Dinosaur Park still on for Building or is it on hold again?
Will this be good for the Community as a whole?
Will this bring New Caney into The City of Houston, so our Property Tax's can go up to a point that we can't pay them?
I for one don't want the Dyno Park here. I like it just the way it is now, a small Country Community. Granted its not as small as it was back in the early 70's. But with the Growth of this area in the last few decades, and seeing where it could possibly be headed, it makes me want to look for another place to live.
To the Corporation that is thinking of doing this, what would you think if someone was wanting to do this in your back yard?
The last thing I want to see is Building sticking up in a New, New Caney Skyline...
Buy Land and Build elsewhere...If you Build here I will move most likely. Best of luck in your indevors.

This is from the Chamber of Commerce website:
To bring reality to the long-awaited dinosaur park, the East Montgomery County Improvement District will host its first fundraising event for the museum, EarthQuest Institute.
“We are holding the first fundraising event in East Montgomery County because that is where EarthQuest Institute and EarthQuest Adventures Theme Park will be located,” Frank McCrady, president, said. “The developers, Dr. Matt Gardner and ‘Dino’ Don Lessem will present information on both the theme park and museum.”
The event is scheduled for Dec. 8 at the East Montgomery County Improvement District Complex with social hour at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 and the program at 7:30. According to McCrady, this fundraising opportunity will be the first time that organizations, businesses and individuals can sign up to be members of the “Circle of Friends” through donations. Interested parties are asked to R.S.V.P. to 281-354-4419 by Dec. 2 and tickets are $75 per person.

i'm curious...how many of you leaving comments are legitimate residents of the newcaney splendora area? If all i'm pleased but outside "corporate opinons" masked as real life people keeps bouncing around in my head. YES if it brings work and money to thecounty i am all for it. But is all that TAX money goin to be for our side of montgomery county or the west end? I worked at the texco when it was a texaco and stayed during the shell switch i spoke with law enforcement and we have less than one 8th of the county law enforcement...the west side hoardes what should be for all....i'd be worried about the new income as well

Ok, for all the bashing of Astroworld. Um, the downfall of Astrowold came the minute it was purchased by Six Flags. They would not hire the people need to run the park and keep it clean, they stopped the shows, the raised the ticket prices so high that no one could afford to go until the end when the park was a dump. And if you don't know this, the other down fall was that they had a parking agreement with the Astrodome to use their parking lot and once Reliant Stadium was built they refused to renew the lease of the parking space for Astroworld, did anyone miss that in the newspapers back then? There was no other parking for the park and the Reliant Stadium people wanted the land the park was on so there you have it! Six flags did in Astroworld and if they have anything to do with this park, then I would complain.

Dear rf res. I am an ex-resident of Orlando, Florida and ex-employee of Universial Studios/Universal City. I can assure you that there is NO low income houseing near the Universal or Disney properties.
While it is difficult to go out on a weekend without being surrounded by families on holiday, it does bring health and wealth into a community... and does wonderous things for property values.
I would welcome such a project to the area. I am just afraid it won't get the local support it deserves.
Growing pains... YES. Worth the pain... YES!!

The above website link is a copy of a press release from Walt Disney World dated April 30, 1969. The press release illustrates that it was three years after the land purchases before construction of Disney World began. Almost seems like a blue print of Earthquest Adventures. Give the Earthquest developer a break you guys!

There is no need to look for the black helicopters....
Bottom line is that the money being spent to-date has not come from the developer - it has come from the EMCID loan. So yes...projects like this can take years to come to fruition but I would like to see the developer spend some of his own money to show commitment to the project. It would be too easy for him to walk away and leave EMCID (the tax payers) with nothing to show for the money spent other than the pretty sign at the frontage road on US 59.

Come on...really? You actually think the county and state would be involved in a scam to sell property? They are involved because of the taxes they will reap after the park is built, and operating. As for the time span; a project of this size is not planned, financed, and constructed overnight. Especially since this thing started out as a $50 million park, and has grown along the way to the monster it has become. BTW, what does your opinion stem from?

Personally, I think its a HUGE scam. I think that they are just scamming people into buying property in New caney.. Its been about 3 years since theyve been talking about it. And its not going to be finished for another couple years. This is ridiculous. $500 million dollars.

I'm a resident of Roman Forest and although I'm excited about the park and new shops, I am extremely concerned about the crime and traffic getting in and out of the neighborhood. Any thoughts on this? My only hope is the new establishments will drive out the trash and illegals, which is probably just wishful thinking. Are there any amusement parks out there that are surrounded by nice, clean, safe non-government subsidized neighborhoods?

You can call E.M.C.I.D. @ 281-354-4419. They're pretty much involved. If you want to get hold of someone at Earthquest directly, they may help you if you have a legit reason. Or, here's an email address that you may or may not get a response from at this time (I haven't).

Hey Caribncwby - I'm not sure where you get your facts but the Director of Security, actually Security Manager would not give you misleading facts like that. I'm alsomst offended because I worked closely with him. Yes it is tru that gangs became a problem at Astroworld but this was not the reason for closing. The crime stats you listed are way off bases the number for any theme park is suprisely higher (ANY THEME PARK.
Aso Spaceghost that was racist and the gang problem was not with the "Blacks" as you put it.

Hey Amanda, as bad as Space Ghost's comments sounded, he was partially right. One of my good friends was the director of security for Astroworld and he said exactly the same thing. The gangs were so bad out there that the Six Flags Corp. could not take a chance of keeping the park open. There were several assaults, roberies and even sexual assaults within a one year period. Six Flags was facing several law suits. I even refused to go out there with my family because of the problems they were having and I'm a cop! My friend also would give me passes to get in for free but I still would not go out there. Could you imagine paying $75 bucks to get in that zoo. (Neither could anyone else.)
As soon as Astroworld started selling season passes and people started using Astroworld as a daycare center, it went downhill.
Hope this new park does well though. We could use some new venues here.
